Ayah dan Ibu Adalah Doa Yang Tak Pernah Putus
DR H Ajak Muslim ini, adalah Kepala Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Provinsi Banten. Ditemui oleh Gerbang Banten, saat dia, sedang melakukan olahraga tenis meja di kantornya sekitar pukul 16.00 WIB, bersamaan dengan sebagian para stafnya bergegas pulang pekan lalu.
Saat itu laki-laki dengan perawakan tinggi sekitar 175 sentimeter ini, mengaku sudah main 20 set pertandingan tanpa henti. Dengan alasan menghormati tamu, Ajak-pun menghentikan pertandingan iseng-iseng itu, untuk menemui saya dalam kondisi masih bercucuran keringat.
Dilahirkan di Desa Sukamanah, di suatu Kampung di kaki Gunung Aseupan, di Kabupaten Pandeglang, Provinsi Banten,
pada 10 Juni 1960. Terlahir sebagai anak yang ayahnya petani sedangkan ibu berprofesi sebagai guru ibtidaiyah.
Kuat dugaan darah guru dari bunya, mengalir deras dalam perkembangan hidupnya. Ini ditandai dengan diangkatnya Ajak Muslim sebagai dosen di IKIP Bandung pada tahun 1986 hingga tahun 2001.
Rupanya tidak hanya Ajak yang memiliki darah sebagai pendidik, tapi juga adik dan kakak kandungnya yang saat ini menjadi kepala sekolah.
Dari hasil perkawinannya, Ajak Muslim memiliki tiga orang putra-putri. Dua diantaranya sudah menyelesaikan kuliah di jurusan kedokteran.
Sedangkan satu lainnya masih duduk dibangku sekolah menengah atas (SMA) di Pandeglang. Ada petuah dari ibunya saat masih hidup dulu. Tidak ada orang yang akan mengalami miskin, karena menyekolahkan anaknya. Atau sebaliknya, tidak ada orang yang menjadi kaya, karena tidak menyekolahkan anaknya. Bagi Ajak Muslim, keberadaan Ayah dan Ibu adalah doa yang tak pernah putus. Ada kenangan yang tak bisa terlupakan, saat menyusuri jalan setapak bersama ibu ketika kecil dulu, kata Ajak bercerita sambil mata berkaca-kaca.
Saat itu Ajak yang masih berusia sekitar lima atau enam tahun merasa kehausan, karena sudah berjalan kaki sejauh lebih kurang 10 kilometer dari rumah menuju pasar bersama ibunya. Di tengah jalan setapak yang dilalui, ada tiga buah jambu air tergeletak, jatuh dari pohonnya yang berada di sisi jalan.
Saat itu jambu tersebut, dipungut oleh ibunya. Setelah dibersihkan dengan kain selendang lalu jambu tersebut, diberikan seluruhnya kepada Ajak.
Tak satu-pun, ibu menyisakan. Padahal ibu juga pasti sedang haus, kata Ajak mengakhiri cerita sambil mata berkaca-kaca. (Red/01)
